Dominikus Burghardt studied piano at the Universities of Music in Essen, Hannover and Düsseldorf with distinguished professors such as David Levine and Roberto Szidon. In addition Burghardt studied Liedgestaltung in Vienna with Prof. Norman Shetler and at the Music Conservatory in Zürich with Prof. Irvin Gage. He attented Masterclasses for Liedinterpretation with Konrad Richter and Graham Johnson. He has also enjoyed performing Chamber Music with various partners, as Piano Soloist and Accompanist at the Kölner Philharmonie, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Berliner Festwochen and at the Tage für Neue Musik Darmstadt as well as Concert Tours in Europe and the USA. A main emphasis of Mr. Burghardts career has been with the works of the 19th century and premiering the work of Contemporary composers. As the Artistic Director of the Ratinger Bachtage he has initiated various Concert Series. From 1992 to 2001 he taught Liedgestaltung at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Leipzig and from 2002 to 2003 at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold/Dep. Dortmund he was the Dirctor of the Liedklasse. From 1995 to 2005 he taught Solo Piano at the Universität Essen. At the present time he is teaching in theater/Voice, Song Interpretation and Coaching/Role Study at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen.
